Advent Calendar for the Busy Believer [draft]
How long is your to-do list for this week? Do you wonder how you will ever find the time to do all the baking and the shopping and the wrapping and attend the extra work or church function and get the car serviced before the family trip? Do you suspect that you might find a way to get it all done but will arrive at Christmas day hollow-eyed and exhausted and really unable to feel the joy you had hoped the perfect holiday preparations would produce? A lot of people feel this way.
This year we are offering a short daily reflection in the form of an online Advent calendar. Just click on the image for the day’s date and interact with the reflection, scripture, or poem. And have a blessed season of preparing our hearts to make room for God.
Over the margins of life comes a whisper…
a spiritual life connected to the Source of all peace.
to give you a future with a hope
small moments of joy
Do not fear
The embodied love of God
“What are human beings that you are mindful of them?” …
What does Christmas smell like?
Simple gifts of the Spirit
Signs of nature’s renewal
What we treasure
A gift of caring attention
No two alike
Led by a child
in the clatter of the kitchen
willing to be changed
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
the fullness of time
The goodness we are meant to bring into the world
Forgiveness can be had on any road
Blessings of Saint Nicholas
How would you tell the story?
Don’t stop now
